Minds that cure. Hearts that care.

What is anal fissure

A fissure in the anus is the most common cause of pain and bleeding from the anus. It is a painful and troublesome condition, Which can affect an infant as well as an elderly.

Fissure means a cut or a tear in the anus.  The anus is the end part of the rectum through which stools passes out. Fissure occurs in anoderm (lining of the anus). This anoderm contains sensory nerves that sense pain and touch.  The fissure may seem to be small but the pain it causes may be paramount and people may avoid passing stools as long as possible.  This may further lead to the formation of hard stools further increasing the fissure, leading to a vicious cycle.
