Chalazion Introduction

There are oil glands in the eyelids when one of them get blocked, chalazion appears.

A chalazion is a noncancerous, painless bump or nodule inside the upper or lower eyelid.
Single chalazion or multiple Chalazia can be formed as a result of healed styes. These are cyst-like nodules which form around an oil gland (meibomian)present within the eyelid, which results in red and swollen eyelids.
The chalazion is made up of pus and blocked fatty secretions that normally help lubricate the eye but due to the formation of the chalazion, is unable to drain out.
Chalazia which persists for more than several weeks and grow large enough to cause discomfort needs to be treated.
Fortunately, chalazia find wonderful treatment with homeopathy and surgery can be avoided. Homeopathic medicines also help in stopping regrowth.
In the case of a very large and persistent chalazion, surgery may be required to excise it.
