To explain psoriasis in simple language it can be said that psoriasis develops when a person’s immune system sends faulty signals informing skin cells to grow too quickly. New skin cells form in days rather than in weeks causing accumulation of excess skin cells. The excess skin cells accumulate on body surface causing psoriasis patches. In later stage shedding of this excess skin starts resulting in scaling.
The most common areas affected are typically the outside of the elbows, knees or scalp. It can affect anywhere on the body. Psoriasis rash is itchy, burning and stinging in character. Psoriasis may be accompanied by other diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and depression, although it is, not a rule.
